Car Seat Safety Program

The Town of Woodstock Police Department offers this program which is funded by several grants that include the Ulster County Traffic Safety Board, and NYS Governor’s Traffic Safety Board. We currently have 1 Officer that is certified, and 2 more that are waiting for recertification.

The Programs includes inspection and the installation of your car seat(s), and a replacement seat(s), if needed, are available at no charge. Per the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law, all children under the age of four are to be restrained in a federally approved child safety seat.

Woodstock Police Bike Patrol

Established in 1992.Currently the town has 4 active bike patrol members and is expected to strengthen in numbers.

Starting in early spring and ending in late fall a bike patrols officer's duties include maintaining order directly in the heart of the village of Woodstock. Including patrols of the Village Green area and issuing parking tickets to vehicles parked illegally on streets and in town parking lots.

Bike Patrol is also effective in times of street congestion to get traffic moving freely. Bike Patrol officers work diligently at their duties, and are effective in improving quality of life in our community.

Our officers, who keep our town safe while on bike patrol, are highly trained professionals who had to complete an extensive and vigorous training program approved by the state. These officers are expected to be in top notch physical condition and are highly respected in our community.

Animal Complaints

The Town Of Woodstock provides assistance with all domestic animal complaints.

Our Animal Control Officer Ms. Melissa Dutcher handles all lost/found cat or dog complaints as well as dog bites, barking, complaints and complaints of dogs running loose within the township.

DWI Taskforce

The Woodstock Police Department DWI Taskforce program seeks to reduce the incidence’s with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.  We also work aggressively in keeping drunk drivers off the street to ensure no damage, destruction of personal private property, or worst yet, personal injury.

The program is entirely funded by Ulster County Stop DWI and runs from early spring until the winter months. We’re happy to let you know that all money used for DWI Taskforce patrol is entirely money taken in by the county from DWI and DWAI convictions, and in which is of no cost to you, the taxpayers.
